23 Oct New Floor Plans, Editions & Pricing
Over the past year, the Acre team has been heads-down, hard at work. This “remaking housing” thing poses some major challenges, and you haven’t heard much from us as we’ve been silently chipping away at it. In this 2-part post we’ll update you on that work, and some exciting developments.
Now, more than ever, the Bay Area needs fast, affordable, sustainable housing. In the wake of the Napa & Santa Rosa fires, we want to be a solution to help people rebuild a life that surpasses what was lost.
In the past year we’ve talked with well over a hundred home buyers, paying careful attention to what they and their families need from a home. While the response for our introductory series has been fantastic, the goal has always been to drive down the cost of housing over time. We saw the opportunity to make some subtle changes that would provide big benefits to a broader audience.
We are pleased to introduce the following changes to the Acre family!
Editions & Pricing. We are now offering two separate editions – Baseline & Skyline – the first optimizing around value and family needs, the other focused on lifestyle. Both editions feature the same floor plans, net zero performance, and emphasis on high quality materials, but utilize different finish and equipment selections. This means we can offer a broader range of pricepoints. See below.
Plan Versions: We are introducing variations of the Series A home, adding more flexibility to the line. These new floor plans are designed for amazing value, higher density and subletting. In a separate post, we’ll introduce our Compact versions, which offer more livable space on smaller lots. These versions can also be divided into two separate living spaces, providing a seamless option for extended families or subletting. Read more in the next update.
The New Editions
Acre’s mission is to reset the bar for what a standard home should be. The standard should be beautiful, it should be comfortable, it should be a healthy and safe environment. Homes should be durable, lasting several generations, and should be cost-effective to own and maintain. Acre Baseline homes are NOT “builder grade”. They are the next generation of quality living experience, brought into reach for more homeowners. And by making sustainable housing affordable for more families, we make an even bigger impact on the environment.
Baseline Edition homes will continue to feature high-quality material choices, smarthome technology and net zero energy performance. The full range of options will be introduced later in 2017. As always, you can expect simple, modern detailing and color palettes, but with streamlined options.
The Skyline Edition is all about the experience. Skyline starts where Baseline leaves off, elevating the living experience through advanced technology and beautifully crafted details. Skyline is for the design enthusiasts, the pioneering tech lovers and those pushing the boundaries of the green energy future. Skyline homes are not excessive or frivolous, rather they are composed, refined, purposeful. They artfully balance high-performance with high-design, integrating what’s possible with the way we live.
Skyline Edition homes feature the products you’ve come to expect from Acre, and new elements to love. Poliform kitchens, Miele appliances, Fireclay tile, Duravit baths, Lutron lighting controls, the Tesla Powerwall. Plus bespoke metal details, hand-crafted zeroBOX integration and customizable built-ins. Request the new Skyline Product Guide, available Nov. 1, and prepare to drool.
The New Pricing
These new editions allow us to offer a broader range of pricepoints, with base pricing starting below our introductory Origin Series. While there is much more to consider than price per square foot (HERE is our post on that topic), the new A5 Compact homes are priced under $190/sq ft, which is competitive with very standard homes in the Bay Area.
We also have tools in place to help homeowners understand the long-term savings and incentives of owning a net zero home. On our new homepage, you can see the true cost of ownership after 10 years in your Acre home (yes, we copied this directly from the Tesla playbook…thanks Elon!). Once you make a reservation, our in-house sustainability gurus will create a detailed report, pinpointing the exact incentives available in your area.
We will continue to work toward even more affordable solutions, and over time transform the state of housing. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey. We’re so grateful to the clients, followers and partners who are making this possible.
